The Cummins B6.7H hydrogen internal combustion engine, tested in this collaboration, will be installed in a 13-meter Kendo bus. This model currently uses a Cummins L9N natural gas engine, achieving a sustainable alternative to traditional fuels and is widely used in intercity commuting, school buses, and shuttle buses. Because such applications have high requirements for power reliability and driving range, Cummins' hydrogen internal combustion engine technology will further reduce emissions, helping Anadolu Isuzu achieve its sustainability goals.
Cenk Yavuz, Director of Cummins' European Bus Business, stated, "This is a significant moment in the development of hydrogen internal combustion engine technology. Currently, there are no such products in the bus market, and customers urgently need solutions that combine the power performance of natural gas with significant emission reductions. We can meet this need precisely by optimizing internal combustion engine technology to adapt to zero-carbon hydrogen fuel." He emphasized that Anadolu Isuzu is a long-term partner of Cummins, and this deepened cooperation will jointly promote the development of future power technologies.
It is understood that Cummins and Anadolu Isuzu have been collaborating for over a decade, delivering nearly 5,000 engines of various specifications and applications to date. These engines, manufactured at Cummins' Darlington engine plant in the UK, are supplied to Anadolu Isuzu's production base in Kocaeli, Turkey, laying a solid foundation for this technological innovation collaboration.
